This study was attempted to verify effectiveness of an emotional manage-ment training program(EMTP) for chronic schizophrenic patients in view of emotional behavior, emotional expression, self-efficacy, changes in inter-personal relationship and brief psychiatric rating scale(BPRS). The program was performed for 20 weeks to 35 patients for each group. The general demographic characteristics were analyzed with X2- test, t-test and values of variables were done with pared t-test by SAS 9.2.The demographic characteristics showed no statistical significance. Emotional behavior, Emotional expression, Self-efficacy and changes in interpersonal relationship were statistically significant(p < 0.0001) between experimental and control group. Otherwise BPRS were not (p = 1.000). The EMTP for experimental group showed positive effects except BPRS. Those results suggested that continuously performing the program could improve emotional recovery and quality of life of them.
